Complete Plumbing for a New Childcare Centre
Plumbspec completed the plumbing, gasfitting and drainage package for the new Aotea Childcare Centre in the Wellington region.
Childcare facilities need plumbing that is practical, reliable and able to handle plenty of daily use. Bathrooms, handwashing areas, kitchens and staff spaces all need to work safely while being easy to clean and maintain.
Our team installed the main plumbing and drainage services throughout the new building, working alongside the builder and other contractors as the project moved forward. Careful coordination was needed to make sure pipework and underground services fitted around the structure, electrical work and other parts of the build.
One of the biggest challenges came from the ground conditions. During the drainage work, our team encountered solid Wellington rock, which made excavation and underground pipe installation more involved than first expected.
Rather than holding up the job, we worked through the difficult ground and kept the drainage installation moving. This required the right equipment, planning and a practical approach onsite.
Once the underground services were complete, the internal plumbing and gasfitting work could be connected and finished throughout the centre. The completed systems were then checked to make sure everything was operating correctly before handover.
The finished childcare centre now has reliable plumbing, gas and drainage infrastructure designed to support children, staff and visitors each day.
This project is a good example of Plumbspec’s ability to manage the full plumbing package for new commercial buildings, including difficult drainage conditions and close coordination with the wider construction team.
